Located just 200m from Quest East Melbourne, the Melbourne Cricket Ground is one of the most historical and famous sporting stadiums in the world. Developed in the 1853 for use a cricket ground the MCG quickly developed to hold football matches as well. As the potential and excellence of the ground was realised many more sporting events were held including cycling, athletics and school sports meets. Most famously with the help of continous redevelopments the MCG was used as the Olympic Stadium in 1956 and then for the Commonwealth Games in 2006.
The MCG is not just used for sporting events either. Concerts have been held at the MCG since 1878 and include the likes of the Rolling Stones, David Bowie, U2, Madonna, Michael Jackson and Elton John among many more.
The MCG also has the ability to host corporate functions of any size due to their outstanding function spaces including spectacular views of the city skyline and over the arena.
Today the MCG plays host to a vast range of events from sporting to entertainment to corporate.
Tours for the general public are held on non-event days.
Tickets to all MCG matches in the 2006 AFL home and away season are now on sale through Ticketmaster. General admission tickets can only be purchased from the gates on the match day providing they are still available.
